You may be eligible to receive a free Personal Credit Report as a result of:


The Fair Credit Reporting Act

Free Personal Credit Report Options:
As part of the Federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), you are entitled to a free Personal Credit Report if:

  • You were denied or were notified of an adverse action related to credit, employment, insurance, a government license or other government granted benefit, or another transaction initiated by you within the last 60 days and a TransUnion credit report was the basis for the credit decision.
  • You were denied a house or apartment rental or were required to pay a higher deposit than normally required within the last 60 days and a TransUnion credit report was the basis for the credit decision.
  • You certify that you are unemployed and intend to apply for employment within the next 60 days.*
  • You certify that you are a recipient of public welfare assistance.*
  • You certify that you have reason to believe that your TransUnion file contains inaccurate information due to fraud.

  *One Personal Credit Report every 12 months.

The FACT Act


As part of the Federal Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions (FACT) Act, every US Resident is eligible to receive one free Personal Credit Report every 12 months from each of the nationwide credit reporting companies. You may request a copy of your TransUnion Personal Credit Report or TransUnion Personal Credit Report & Score by phone. To order your Personal Credit Report by phone for mail delivery, simply call (800) 888-4213. The fee for your Report may vary by state. The fee for the Score is $7.95. We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express for payment.

Free Annual Reports and TransUnion Reports are accessible to the Vision Impaired. On-line reports are compatible with screen readers. Accessible formats can be requested by telephone or by mail; please specify Braille, audio or large print.

There are certain circumstances where you may qualify for a free Personal Credit Report. For example, if you were denied credit and a TransUnion Credit Report was used to make the decision. Check here to see if you qualify, and download the necessary form to get your free Personal Credit Report by mail.

A credit score is available for an additional fee of $7.95 with the purchase of your TransUnion Personal Credit Report. You may be eligible for a free Personal Credit Report; but if not, be sure to include the applicable fee and the following information with your request:

   * First, middle, and last name (including Jr., Sr., III)
   * Current address
   * Previous addresses in the past two years, if any
   * Social Security number
   * Date of birth
   * Current employer
   * Phone number
   * Signature
   * Applicable fee (please make checks payable to TransUnion, LLC)
